Hello

I upgraded to kernel v5.4.20.202.42, i noticed that dvb-mb size is huge if compared to older kernel versions  :o
I even can't install it due to many errors
For ex.,

trying to overwrite '/lib/modules/5.4.20.202.42/kernel/drivers/acpi/video.ko', which is also in package xorg-intel 0-21.7+5.4.20.202.42
trying to overwrite '/lib/modules/5.4.20.202.42/kernel/drivers/input/touchscreen/usbtouchscreen.ko', which is also in package xorg 1:1.19.2-93.5+5.4.20.202.42
trying to overwrite '/lib/modules/5.4.20.202.42/kernel/drivers/input/gameport/gameport.ko', which is also in package alsa 1.1.3-44.4+5.4.20.202.42
trying to overwrite '/lib/firmware/e100/d101m_ucode.bin', which is also in package network 0-79.4+5.4.20.202.42
trying to overwrite '/lib/firmware/i915/bxt_dmc_ver1_07.bin', which is also in package xorg-intel 0-21.7+5.4.20.202.42

I tried to repack it several times by removing the duplicate files then i gave up  :D

Could you please fix that package?

Best regards.

[MLD 5.4 testing] dvb-mb v5.4.20.202.42 105MB!
I think vtuner module is missing from that dvb-mb package .... am i right?

By the way, why do i have to install xorg-intel then if i need to plug my nvidia graphics card i must uninstall xorg-intel
then install xorg-nvidia driver and vise versa.

Is there anyway to auto-detect which graphics card i'm using without having to manually uninstall and install the appropriate driver?

Yes, there is a package xorg-autodetect, which is installed automatically on a standard-setup. Please give it a try and report.

Hi baltic,
If i installed xorg-autodetect i can install xorg-intel + xorg-nvidia simultaneously?
I mean it will work like windows and linux without having to uninstall non of them.

What about dvb-mb package, will it be fixed soon?

Yes, on a Linux-system you can install more drivers than HW is present. It will only load, what is really needed.
But, on installation, you might get errors like you saw above, because of files that exist in both packages. Please try and report.

Hallo Claus,

nur mal aus technischem Interesse: Warum funktioniert das bei der MLD nicht?

Hi baltic, I wanted to tell you i already tried that. it won't work but Claus was faster than me.  :)

Hi Claus,
let's say i'm using kernel V5.4.20 + xorg-intel Okay?
What if i want to plug my Nvidia graphics card to test something after 2 -3 months from now?
xorg-nvidia package installer will force me to uninstall xorg-intel driver plus it will force me to update kernel version and a lot of other packages.
Suppose i don't want to update the kernel version because some modules will not work.
That's a real problem right?
Solution is to install multiple xorg drivers at once then forget about it.

Hallo Claus,

danke für die Erläuterungen.

@gr4vity
You could try this:
Download the actual nvidia-driver and save it on your disk. When you want to change the grafic-card, remove the intel-driver and install the fitting nvidia-package.

Or install the driver, make a snapshot, and go back. If you need it, switch to the snapshot.

I'm already using 3 different snapshots because of that  :D
1- Nvidia kernel 5.3.11
2- Intel kernel 5.3.11
3- Intel kernel 5.4.20

My USB stick is almost full because of that.

I think it can be done because i have installed xorg-drivers + mesa + xorg-intel at once after deleting the conflicting files.

But i didn't try xorg-intel + xorg-nvidia yet.
