TechniSat SkyStar 2 eXpress HD Treiber
« on: January 08, 2018, 20:01:18 »
Hallo,

Hi gr4vity,

Welcome!

It is ok for us if you ask your question in English. We will answer it also in English.

If your problem is just the drawing of the signal strength and quality than it is not a problem.
The signal strength is just a value in the driver. So if one driver is written to show you 0 to 100 and the other one is written to show you 0 to 1000 the signal quality shown is 10% of the real value for the second card.
This depends on the program that interpret the signal value. Maybe it needs 0 to 10000

Digital is 0 and 1 so if you have a non artifact picture everything is ok!

Best regards

MarMic

Claus

Hi Claus, thank you for replying,
Actually, i encounter that problem with MLD-5.3 stable 64Bit PC.
After that i added MLD-5.4 link to the sources list then upgraded the kernel and dvb-mbe driver (which might not right to do so)however i still face the same problem.
Then i went back to MLD-5.3

Best regards

Hi MarMic, thank you ... i'm really glad that you guys had approved my account  :)

The problem is the signal strength and quality are reversed, if you check the attachment the less value should be on top and the greater value should be on the bottom.

I intend to use those values to align my antenna, now it's very confusing.

The other part of the problem is there is no signal lock for many channels including 4K channels which works fine with Carzycat media_build.

Is it possible to transfer kernel/driver files from Ubuntu to MLD?

Best regards
gr4vity

Hi,

It is not possible to take the Ubuntu driver for MLD. Generally you cannot mix drivers build against different kernels.

The 4k Lock can really be a driver problem. But I cannot recommend to use the signal strength from vdr for calibration!

MLD 5.4 is using the latest Kernel so we are only able to use the current dvb kernel tree drivers.

As far as I know it is currently not possible to build crazy cat against newest kernel.

It is sad but this is how the Kernel dvb tree works... Real slow and hard to get improvements into the drivers

Best regards

Thank you for replying again MarMic,
I'm just happy with the signal strength values i get using VDR via ssh on my mobile to align my antenna, i'm not a professional  :)

Here is another example for the same channel and the same tv-card.
1st attachment is from Ubuntu PC
2nd from MLD

Which one to use to align my antenna and which one is correct?
Confusing right?  :)

I was hoping that you can compile Crazycat's for MLD 5.3 however, no problem i will try to find another solution.

By the way i noticed the antenna app which can be used from webif. it's very nice but i have the same problem as well.
It also just gives one value, i don't know if it's signal strength or quality
Can you improve that app in the future?

Best regards

Hello,

After checking the problem once again i noticed that the signal strength on Ubuntu with Crazycat's media_build and on MLD are almost the same however C/N values are completely different.

on the other hand Antenna gives another different value ...is it because it uses a different femon file?

The antenna webif use the "femon" commandline tool to get the signal level.

That's right, but i think it's an older femon version ... isn't it?
Could you please tune to any channel, use dvb-fe-tool and antenna then check if there are any difference between them?

The used femon tool ist very simple. It only gets the signal level of the device /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0. There is no magic in it.

That is understandable.
My question is why i get different signal level for the same tuned channel if i used antenna and dvb-fe-tool?
By the way if i uninstalled antenna and used vdr-plugin-femon i will get the same signal level as dvb-fe-tool.

I think that the tools are using different algorithms to translate the absolute level in percent values.

Yeah but i believe they are more accurate than antenna hence i'll stick with vdr-plugin-femon and dvb-fe-tool for now.
Thanks a lot for your help.
