Why that doesn't occur in MLD 5.4?
I mean updates will work even without activating ntp daemon.

Yes, updates worked immediately after i activated ntp daemon even without reboot.
Deactivate ntp daemon, reboot and let me know if you can check for updates.

Bei mir funktionierte es am nächsten Tag wieder, ohne das ich etwas geändert habe. Sorry, hätte ich schreiben sollen.
Der "Activate ntp daemon" Haken ist bei mir gesetzt.

Can you help Claus/community to resolve that issue?
Uncheck Activate ntp daemon, reboot then check for updates.
Let's us know if it works.
