Well I think I screwed up, I built 5.0 on an AMD64 machine and built all amd64 bit packages I needed but the install candidate is an intel 32 bit machine. Is there a way to set the current build directory to build 32 bit packages also or instead??

The MLD system type is normaly the same type as the devel system. So if you use a 32Bit Debian, you will get a 32Bit MLD.
